Shea Butter. What is it? How is it made? Where does it come from?
Shea Butter starts off as a nut from the Shea tree, which is native to many African countries. Once harvested, the shea nut is pounded, clean, mashed and whipped, then boiled to produce the shea butter that we’re all used to using.
Naturally containing vitamins A, E and being high in fatty acids, shea butter is perfect for retaining skin moisture and elasticity. All natural, unrefined shea butter is also used in cooking in some African countries. However, the kind we make, while being all natural, is just for your skin.
Shea butter can be refined or unrefined. Refined shea butter is more processed while unrefined is processed as little as possible, which helps retain it’s key nutrients.
All of our shea products contain all natural, unrefined shea butter, that is high quality and ethically sourced. If you’re looking for moisture and softness, be sure to check out some of our shea products!
